This Fran show was a fascinating puzzle of textures and dynamics. The band shifted effortlessly from sparse, atmospheric verses to explosive choruses, and my task was to make those transitions feel both seamless and impactful.
Creative Approach
I treated the mix as a dynamic system with multiple states. Using scenes on the Midas M32, I created different EQ and compression snapshots for the quiet and loud sections. The key was automating the reverb and delay sends, making the space around the instruments expand and contract with the music's intensity, creating a breathing, living soundscape.
